Racing started at 9:00am with four 400m events using &#8220;Rolling Starts&#8221; &#8211; so basically individual time trials. The first heat sets off all together. As soon as the first swimmer is done a swimmer from the next heat is set off in that lane. That process just continues with starts and finishes just rolling along.<\/p>\n<p>100m Backstroke &#8211; Event 5 started just before 1pm<\/p>\n<p>Heat 13 of 14 was my start.<br \/>\nNorth York Trillium Masters swimmer Peter Straka was kind enough to grab my splits:<br \/>\n36.8 out &#8211; which was far too fast for this point of the season<br \/>\nBack in 44.2 for a 1:21.02 LCM &#8230; good enough for 2nd place Men 45-49<\/p>\n<p>200m Individual Medley &#8211; Event 6<\/p>\n<p>Heat 10 of 14 was my start with Queenslander Leanne in the lane beside (as in 100BK in 2006)<br \/>\nA much more controlled and less painful race than the 100BK<br \/>\nFinal results aren&#8217;t up yet, but a time of 3;06 was good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The day at Southport on the Gold Coast &#8211; Queensland Australia started with a warm-up from 8:00 to 8:45.
