High on the north shoulder slopes of the Matterhorn as we make our way up the Zmutt Glacier Valley towards Schoenbiel Hutte (located about a 100m above the lateral morain at the top end of the valley floor. Day 1 ends at Schoenbiel Hutte. On day 2 our route climbs up the glacier slopes to the far left of the photo, where Tete Blanche is just out of frame. Day 1 proved to be rather draining with the ascent to over 4000m plus the long ski around the Matterhorn. For lowlanders, 3-4 days of skiing up high getting acclimatized is recommended.
