Having descended the crusty western slopes below Cabanne de Bertol we arrived in the village of Arolla. First on the agenda was a shower and the airing out of boots and feet. One of the real advantages of ski touring in Europe is having the occasional opportunity to ski down into villages and take in some of the local food and culture. We made the most of lunch at one of the sunny outdoor patio restaurants. Dinner and breakfast was included with our half-board accommocation at Hotel Glacier. The next morning we restocked our lunch supplies before heading back up to the high alpine.
